Wow. It looks like it’s finally happening – Miguel Almiron is reportedly set to join Newcastle after the club agreed terms with MLS champions Atlanta United. The 24-year-old has been a prime target for manager Rafa Benitez for many months, and despite the club making a bid early in the window, it looked like a deal was dead in the water with Atlanta demanding more money. However, as reported by Atlanta newspaper AJC, the two clubs have now come to an agreement and the player himself is currently on the way to Tyneside for a medical. That report has now been backed up by several local journalists, including from the Chronicle and the Shields Gazette, with the deal looking genuinely close for the Magpies. This would be a huge deal for the club, not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well, with manager Rafa Benitez failing to guarantee he would stay until the end of the season due to frustrations over transfers. This deal will change that totally, and things are finally looking up for the Toon as the deadline approaches.

This is brilliant news. As soon as I saw this I gasped! Hope they get him over the line and his toenails aren't too long or something pedantic like that. Anything for Ashley to say no.
