Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez will be hoping to secure a slew of signings in the next 10 days as the January window ticks towards a close.

The Magpies are yet to sign anyone so far this month despite the obvious need for reinforcements and Benitez making it very clear that he wanted the club to conduct their business early in the window.

However, what’s done is done and Benitez will now just be praying that they can bring in at least two or three players in the coming days to aid his battle against relegation.

One position in which Newcastle need to strengthen is up front, where Salomon Rondon is shouldering too much responsibility at the moment.

Joselu is not performing, and while players like Ayoze Perez are beginning to step up, it would be ideal if they were able to add another option before the end of the window.

One potential target is Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen, who has been frozen out under Mauricio Pochettino and looks like to be shipped on this month.

As reported by the Telegraph, Spurs are now willing to take a £5million hit on the 24-year-old Netherlands international, meaning he would be available for just £12million this month.

It is said that Janssen is seeking a permanent exit to end his Tottenham nightmare, and Newcastle would do well to sign him from their Premier League rivals.

Janssen may not have impressed much at Spurs, but his goalscoring pedigree is clear having netted 32 goals in 49 games at AZ Alkmaar, and the Magpies could be the club where he rediscovers that kind of form.

It is extremely rare that you get the chance to sign an international-level striker for just £12million these days, and Newcastle must pounce on such an opportunity.
