It looks like Rolando Aarons’ time at Newcastle United is slowly coming to an end.

The 23-year-old forward has returned from a largely unsuccessful loan spell in the Czech Republic with Slovan Liberec, for whom he made 13 appearances, registering no goals and no assists in that time.

His lack of impact on loan seems to have helped manager Rafa Benitez make his mind up, with the Magpies boss seemingly set to offload the mercurial wide man on another loan this month.

As quoted by the Shields Gazette, he said: “We’re trying to find a solution where they [Aarons and Achraf Lazaar] can go on loan or whatever. I hope we can find somewhere.”

Whether the club do manage to find a solution or not, it is becoming increasingly clear that Aarons is never going to fulfil his potential at St. James’ Park.

The Jamaica-born wide man is a real talent, and has shown the occasional glimpse of that over the past few seasons, but there is nothing to suggest he will come good anytime soon.

And, having watched him in action for the past three seasons, Benitez is obviously growing frustrated with the 23-year-old, and looks ready to offload him for good, potentially in the summer.

It is such a shame to see a young player waste his talent in this way, and Aarons may yet end up flourishing at another club, but Newcastle are understandably set to cut their losses soon.
