Newcastle United under-23s striker Elias Sorensen is wanted by Blackpool on loan this month, according to the Chronicle.

The regional newspaper reports on their website that the League One outfit have asked about the possibility of taking the 19-year-old on loan in the current transfer window of the remainder of the season, but the Magpies have not decided whether he will exit the club this month.

Gateshead previously had interest in signing United’s teenage sensation, with Sorensen also being watched by Hartlepool scout Tommy Miller this season.

OPINION

It really is no surprise in the slightest that Sorensen has another club vying to sign him on loan this month. With a goal tally of 19 goals so far, what club would not be interested in signing him? Rafa Benitez does not look likely to give him a run in the first team anytime soon, so what would be the harm in loaning the youngster out? He needs regular game time in a first team, and loaning him to a club like Blackpool would provide him with that much-needed experience. After all, it is not like they are trying to sign Sorensen permanently – it is only on a temporary basis. Loaning him out could be the best thing Newcastle do for his career at the moment, as he is clearly far too good to be playing for the under-23s at the moment. His type of talent needs showcasing in a first team, so what better way to do that than letting him leave for Blackpool?
