Newcastle have relaunched efforts to sign Paris Saint-Germain left-back Stanley N’Soki, according to RMC Sport.

The French outlet report that the Magpies have made an approach to sign the 19-year-old flyer on a loan deal before the close of the window, with the club having also been interested in the summer.

RMC claim however that the Champions League giants want to keep N’Soki around and have rejected the bid, but club bosses are set to assess the situation further as they try to avoid conflict.

The Ligue 1 club are currently in a dispute with midfielder Adrien Rabiot after he went back on signing a new deal.

OPINION

It is no surprise to see Newcastle go back in for N’Soki as we approach the end of the January window, with the situation now becoming pretty desperate for Rafa Benitez. The Magpies are yet to sign a single player this month despite the glaringly obvious need for reinforcements, and they will no doubt be busy in the coming days as they attempt to rectify that. Left-back is a position that has long been earmarked as problematic for Newcastle, and signing N’Soki on loan would be a good short-term option to fix that issue. The 19-year-old is a highly-rated young talent who would add some much-needed cover at left-back while also being able to play in the centre of defence. At the moment it looks like Newcastle are unlikely to sign N’Soki, with PSG not keen on letting him leave, but things could change in the coming days as they assess the players’ wishes.
