OPINION
It looks like the confirmed arrival of Miguel Almiron has triggered Murphy’s loan exit to West Brom, with Rafa Benitez always insisting that the club would never let a player leave without a replacement coming in. Almiron is not a direct replacement for Murphy, with the club-record signing more of a playmaker down the middle than a winger, but he is an attacker nonetheless, and Benitez is obviously now happy for Murphy to seal an exit. This looks to be a good deal for Newcastle in fact, with Murphy hopefully getting some game time between now and the end of the season in the Championship. The young winger has struggled so far on Tyneside and needs to boost his confidence by playing more first-team football. Hopefully that comes at the Hawthorns, and with the Baggies chasing promotion, this could be a crucial little spell in his young career.
