COMMENTARY
There were a lot of positives to be had in the first 45 minutes of play for Newcastle United against Wolves on Sunday, but a section of supporters clearly believe Christian Atsu wasn’t one of them. The 26-year-old winger isn’t a regular fixture of Rafa Benitez’s team and was given an opportunity to impress once again by starting the clash with Wolves. However despite showing glimpses of his blistering pace, which saw him create space for himself, several Magpies supporters weren’t impressed. Atsu’s final ball let him done time and time again, especially when he volleyed the ball high and wide from close range in the opening stages of the match. One Magpies fan claimed that the 26-year-old was the worst footballer in the Premier League, which is rather harsh, while another even boldly claimed they’d rather play with 10 men. It seems if Benitez opts to hook Atsu at half-time, he may get around of applause at St James Park. The Magpies go into the break with Wolves with the scoreline 1-1 and will be aiming to build on that.
