OPINION
It is hard not to agree with the Newcastle fans who have tweeted here about Federico Fernandez in the 1-1 draw with Everton. As with every match, he is incredibly consistent and always reliable in the heart of the defence. One fan claimed he was the “signing of the summer” and that does not come as no surprise. He is one player who has had a tremendous impact on Newcastle’s results this season, and without him, they would not be as strong in defence as they are at the moment. One supporter had even underestimated him at the start of the season when Newcastle bought him, but has now had his mind changed considerably thanks to this display, tweeting that he is “10 times the player I thought he was when we signed him”. It has been rare to see Fernandez slip up this season and by the looks of it, that is not going to happen any time soon – and he will no doubt keep the other centre-halves on their toes and out of the starting XI.
