Bailly missing is a blow

Newcastle United’s task to overcome Man United has been made more difficult as Eric Bailly received a red card during his side’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old centre-back, who earns £75,000-a-week at Old Trafford (Source: Spotrac), has been in terrible form all season and has been a liability at times.

Bailey’s poor form has seen him restricted to making only eight league appearances this season and in his outing against the Cherries it was easy to see why.

While Bournemouth didn’t put too much pressure on the centre-back, he still looked reckless and uncomfortable when being tested.

For this reason it would have been to the Magpies’ benefit if he had got himself suspended for Wednesday clash as you can imagine Salomon Rondon would have had Bailly’s number.

Instead whomever Ole Gunnar Solskjaer calls upon to replace Bailly will have two advantages going in their favour which could damage the Magpies’ chance of pulling of a memorable result.

Not only will Bailly’s replacement be fresh from having not started Sunday’s clash with Bournemouth but they will no doubt be chomping at the bit to prove why they should be starting every game.

Therefore it’s a blow for the Magpies that Bailly will definitely not be featuring as you feel they would have an easier time and be more likely to score if he was on the pitch.

The odds are already stacked against the Magpies as while they performed okay against Watford on Saturday, Man United have been in rampant form every since Jose Mourinho left and Solskjaer replaced him.

However it seems the mountain has got even bigger for the Magpies climb with Bailly not being their to target or attempt to expose.
