Newcastle United must attempt to prise Bradley Dack away from Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window at the expense of West Ham.

It is no secret that Rafa Benitez is in search of a playmaker who can help the strikers score on a regular basis, and the Spaniard must look no further than Dack, who is currently taking the Championship by storm with his impressive performances.

According to the Sun, West Ham and Crystal Palace are battling it out for the 24-year-old’s services, and are even expected to make bids of around £20 million – however, it is Newcastle who must hijack their interest in order to sign the dazzler for themselves.

Dack has a decent eye for goal after netting nine in 17 league appearances for Blackburn, and seeming as the likes of Ayoze Perez are clearly not up to the job anymore, that is where Dack steps in.

Perez has proved countless times that he is unable to provide sufficient support to Newcastle’s strikeforce, recently demonstrated by the fact that he had zero impact against the Hammers on Saturday.

Well, Dack is just the answer that Benitez needs – as Newcastle’s lack of a quality ‘number ten’ is starting to show.

St James’ Park would be the perfect place for him to go as he would slot into Benitez’ starting XI with ease thanks to his excellent ability to create numerous goal scoring opportunities.

Yes, Dack is unproven in the Premier League and there will no doubt be many football fans out there who would be incredibly sceptical about how he would manage the step up.

Nevertheless, the fact that he is the subject of a tug-of-war between two top flight sides shows that he does have the quality to thrive in such an environment.

He would be able to transform United instantly if his displays are anything to go by this season, so Benitez must ensure that he hijacks his rivals’ hunt for Dack in the New Year.
