OPINION
Martin Dubravka certainly had to be at his best in the first half of Newcastle United’s match at Watford on Saturday. The Slovakian shot-stopper needed to be alert throughout the opening period as the Hornets started the game extremely positively. Newcastle, by contrast, were woeful for much of the opening stanza before taking the lead through Salomon Rondon. They never seemed to get to grips with the early pace of the contest and that forced Dubravka to keep them in the game on more than one occasion. His most memorable moment came after around a quarter of an hour when he responded sharply to a Gerard Deulofeu effort and palmed it away. It was an excellent chance for the former Barcelona man but Dubravka was equal to it. He’s blossomed into a phenomenal goalkeeper since joining Newcastle and is undoubtedly one of the finest outside of the big six sides. His first half performance against Watford on Saturday was more evidence of that.
