A notable section of Newcastle United fans on social media were left worried over how short Yoshinori Muto participating in the Asian Cup for Japan would leave Rafa Benitez upfront. The Magpies posted an official update on the attacker on Tuesday on their website to share that the 26-year-old had been drafted into Hajime Moriyasu’s initial 23-man squad to take part in the Asian Cup, which is from 5th January to 1st February 2019. Given that participating in the international tournament could see Muto miss the FA Cup clash with Blackburn Rovers as well as four league games, some Magpies fans were very worried what that meant for their side. Several claimed a January transfer mission to cover his absence was needed but then proceeded to dismiss the idea that their club would splash the cash to make Muto’s unavailability not matter.  It’s not just Muto that is going to the Asian Cup as Ki Sung-yueng is set to represent South Korea at the tournament and supporters were quick to point out after the update on the summer recruit.
