Alan Shearer instantly took to social media to deliver his verdict on Newcastle United achieving a 1-1 draw with Everton on Wednesday.
The Magpies legend tweeted, via his verified account, three words and simply described the result as being “a good point” for his former side.
Salomon Rondon put the Magpies 1-0 up in the 19th minute at Goodison Park before Richarlison scored on the 38th minute mark to make 1-1, and then both teams failed to score in the second half.
As usual Shearer is spot-on with his verdict on the Magpies’ latest result even if he opts to use the least words possible to share his view. The Toffees have been flying high under Marco Silva this season and it was a tough ask for Rafa Benitez’s side to get a good result when facing them at Goodison Park on Wednesday, but that’s exactly what they did. Magpies supporters probably were going into the clash with the Toffees dreading their side suffering another loss, but several players impressed in order for another point to be racked up instead. Given that Benitez used some members of his squad who normally don’t get a look it, for example Christian Atsu, it’ll be interesting to see his line-up for the clash with Wolves on Sunday. The match with Wolves is also poised to be an intriguing affair as while the Magpies were drawing with the Toffees, Wolves were beating Chelsea 2-1. When you consider the Blues have hardly lost this season, that result may mean that Nuno Santo’s side are back to their best.
