COMMENTARY
Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles is normally being showered in praise by supporters but after his display against Wolves, many fans opted to tear him apart instead. One supporter claimed that the centre-back looked unfit and heavy during his outing while others just slammed the player for what they perceived to be a performance well below his ability. It’s hard to argue with fans who were disappointed with Lascelles as he struggled from start to finish. The defender was at times careless in possession and sluggish when moving the ball out from the danger zone. Every Magpies fan knows that Lascelles is capable of being an asset to Rafa Benitez’s side and that is why you feel they opted to be as harsh as they were on him. Hopefully the centre-back is able to get his form back on track soon especially with the festive fixtures coming thick and fast, as the Magpies need him to be able to help them rack up the clean sheets over this busy period. While Lascelles got a lot of criticism the Magpies went close to getting a point but sadly slumped to a 2-1 defeat.
