Michael Owen predicted Newcastle United and Bournemouth to draw 1-1 when they meet each other at St James Park.

The BT Sport pundit shared that wanted to see the Magpies play with more conviction when they host the Cherries as he believes they weren’t at their best last weekend despite defeating Watford 1-0.

Owen shared that he thought Rafa Benitez’s side may have to settle for a draw on Saturday due to the notable away form of their opponents.

“A welcome win for United against Watford on Saturday, but I feel they may have to settle for a draw against a Bournemouth side who are looking for three successive PL away wins for the first time in their history,” wrote Owen in his BetVictor predictions.

“The Magpies were not at their best against Watford last weekend but, with that elusive win in the bag, they can gain confidence from taking all three points and I hope to see the hosts play with a bit more conviction against the Cherries.”

OPINION

Owen is right to want more conviction from the Magpies as there are talented players in the team who should be confident in their ability. With a bit more belief and a little less fear than Benitez’s side could start racking up the points. While Owen has predicted the Magpies to secure a draw that may feel like a disappointed. Eddie Howe’s side are a dangerous prospect to face as they’re regularly underrated but considering the game is at St James, the match is one the Magpies need to be winning. The club have had a slow start to this season to say the least but that would all be forgotten if they quickly racked up the points and zoomed up the table. Then once the Magpies reach January Benitez can be allowed to bring in the players he so desperately needs to ensure the Magpies have a positive season and give fans reasons to be happy.
