There were no doubt many raised eyebrows from Newcastle United fans when Rafa Benitez signed striker Salomon Rondon on loan from West Brom until the end of the season.

After all, his goal record was not consistent and there has been a problem with his fitness the majority of the time.

However, he proved those doubters wrong when he netted a brace against Bournemouth a few weeks ago to ensure the Magpies of their second successive win – but he cannot do the job on his own, which is why Benitez must swoop for Everton’s Cenk Tosun in the January transfer window.

The Spaniard must attempt to sign Tosun as he could be the answer to all of their attacking prayers.

The 27-year-oldĀ  may have had 11 appearances in the Premier League this season, but a lot of those have come from the bench with Marco Silva preferring to play Richarlison as a centre-forward.

This no doubt means that his first team opportunities are rather limited at Goodison Park and he will certainly consider a move away from the club if it means he is not sitting on the bench – the player reported by the Sun as potentially being a makeweight in a deal with Crystal Palace.

Tosun does have the ability to score on a regular basis if he is given half the chance and he could pretty much walk straight into the senior team if it meant he would share the burden with Rondon.

He has made 25 appearances in the Premier League so he has the experience to thrive in a team managed by Benitez, and there is no doubt that the goals would start flooding in with both forwards on form.

Tosun may have only scored two goals this season but this is because he was not given enough chances by Silva to shine.

At Newcastle, the ace can do just that – and Benitez would be on to an absolute winner if he was able to secure the services the Turkish international.
