Many Newcastle United fans went wild with joy upon reading Gary Lineker’s tweet about the Match of the Day running order.

The MOTD presenter shared via his personal Twitter account that the Magpies’ 2-1 victory over Bournemouth was set to be on first and led to fans of Rafa Benitez’s side replying to share their excitement.

One Magpies fan tweeted that it was nose bleed time for supporters of his club, while another tweeted that they were shook and that really must be their birthday.

COMMENTARY

Match of the Day always orders its matches from best, most entertaining, to last and it’s been a while since the Magpies have taken top billing. However after an eventful clash with the Cherries which saw them take all three points then it no surprise they are on first. While Lineker goes onto dismiss the quality of matches on show in the upcoming edition of Match of the Day, Magpies fans should not care and should celebrate not having to solider on through watching everyone else’s outings first. As one supporter said it’s hard to remember the last time the Magpies were on first and that says a lot. Benitez’s side haven’t had much to cheer about this season nor have they played the most exciting or eye-catching football and they has seen them relegated to the latter part of Match of the Day. Yet after making it two wins on the bounce at the expense of Eddie Howe’s side then perhaps times are changing.
