One of Newcastle United’s many needs in the upcoming winter transfer window is a new winger to provide a bit more cutting edge on the flanks.

Kenedy has largely disappointed this season, while Matt Ritchie is a steady-eddie who doesn’t ever truly do anything special.

A move for Everton wideman Ademola Lookman, then, could be just what the doctor ordered for the Magpies. The 21-year-old is a superb, young talent who simply doesn’t look like he’s going to get a real opportunity with the Toffees.

Indeed, earlier this month the Sun reported that Marco Silva’s side were willing to allow the youngster to leave in a potential swap deal for Crystal Palace right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

With Lookman seemingly headed for the exit at Goodison Park, Newcastle must make sure that they are the ones to profit from his departure.

The former Charlton Athletic man is incredibly talented, and showed just what he’s capable of with a stunning loan spell at German side RB Leipzig in the second half of last campaign.

He is a direct winger who takes the ball and runs at defenders, plus he has what many of Newcastle’s players don’t have – a final product.

He scores and creates goals and would be the sort of player who would get the St James’ Park crowd off their feet. He is in purgatory at Everton at the moment and the Magpies should be looking to rescue him.

If they do, they would find themselves aligned with one of the finest young talents in English football. A January bid for Lookman is an absolute must for Rafael Benitez.
