Some Newcastle fans on social media fumed over Neil Redfearn reportedly exiting the club despite only working for the Magpies for a relatively short time.

The Chronicle reported on Tuesday that the 53-year-old had left his role as a coach to the U-23s as he had been offered another job elsewhere.

Redfearn had been on the club’s books for less than a month but during his time as member of staff, the U-23s had won three on the bounce.

The reported exit of the 53-year-old, had a section of fans mocking the quick turn around and others just fuming at how it made the club look like a joke.

OPINION

You can tell the mood at St James Park is at an all time low currently as usually they wouldn’t fume over such things as Redfearn leaving the club. Several seem to think that the coach’s short stint at the Magpies is a reflection of Mike Ashley’s ownership and running of the club, but that simply might not be the case. The Chronicle’s report on the matter shares that Redfearn requested a short-term deal with the Magpies that would allow him to consider other jobs offers, so it’s down to his personal choice. Some may speculate that the Magpies could have done more to keep him or perhaps the wage being offered wasn’t lucrative enough but that all people’s personal speculation. While it’s a shame to see Redfearn exit, particularly as the U-23s are doing well,  given he hasn’t been there that long, then it shouldn’t do too much damage. Though it will be interesting to see which club have come in and poached the experience coach’s services.
