OPINION

If there is one thing that Newcastle United need at the moment, it is a decent goalscorer who can be relied upon on a regular basis.

At the moment they do not have that, even though they acquired the services of Salomon Rondon and Yoshinori Muto in the summer transfer window.

It is no secret that neither player has had the desired impact – after all, it is hard for Muto to make any sort of contribution if all Rafa Benitez does is feed him scraps – so the need for a player who has a serious eye for goal is greater than it has ever been.

Well, fans will be glad to hear that Newcastle have made a step towards signing someone who can score goals, as revealed by Scouts in Attendance.

The reliable Twitter account – which has established itself as a trusted source of news about teams’ scouting missions – say that the Magpies scouts have travelled to France in order to look at pacey Bordeaux attacker Francois Kamano.

He is only 22-years-old, but he is one hell of a talent if his goal tally is anything to go by.

The rapid attacker has already notched up seven goals in 16 appearances across all competitions this season, which is mightily impressive considering that he only largely operates as a winger.

This statistic is only set to grow over the course of the season, and Bordeaux’s lethal finisher could be the player that solves all of Benitez’ woes up front.

United have been heavily questioned about where their source of goals is going to come from – but the fact that they have scouted this hidden gem is definitely news that will delight the fan masses.

Supporters want to see goals galore, and they would most definitely get that if Kamano made the move to Tyneside and carried on where he left off in Ligue 1, which is why the Magpies should follow up their scouting missing with an instant bid for the player ahead of January – this is one player that they cannot afford to lose out on.
