Newcastle United are left frustrated once again as Arsenal are reportedly nearing a £15million deal to sign MLS sensation Miguel Almiron.

The Daily Mirror reported on Sunday that the Magpies’ Premier League rivals, the Gunners, were set to sign the 24-year-old Atlanta United attacking midfielder in January for the reasonable seven-figure sum.

This is another frustrating tale for the Magpies as they were previously reported as being in talks about possible signing Almiron in the new year.

The Sun reported in July that the Magpies and West Ham were in talks with the player’s representative over a possible £10million move that could have been easier to get done in January due to Atlanta United being more open to selling him.

However it seems that Rafa Benitez’s side have been swiftly bypassed the Gunners in the race to sign Almiron based on this latest report, and it just another fantastic player who won’t be rocking up at St James Park.

Almiron, who currently earns £28,000-a-week (Source: The Denver Post), would have been able to solve the Magpies’ problem when it comes to scoring goals as he has been nothing short of a sensation this year.

The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals, while assisting 13, in the MLS this year to help Atlanta United be on the verge of winning the Eastern Conference.

The attacking player looks like having all the skills needed to flourish in the Premier League and it would have been the arrival Benitez needed to welcome in January to boost his side firepower.

Yet it seems once again the Magpies have missed out on a reasonable price deal to bring a talented player to the club.

It’s similar story to how the club’s summer transfer window went as they were linked to several players only for them to join other Premier League clubs.

For example the Magpies were thought to be keen on free agent Ryan Fredericks (Source: Chronicle) ahead of him joining West Ham and in pursuit of Kurt Zouma (Source: Takvim) before he completed a move to Everton.

Yet it seems the Magpies have managed to do one better this time and suffer frustration before the window even opens due to Almiron being on the verge of being snapped up by the Gunners.
