OPINION
Newcastle United really looked like they had turned a corner when they went 2-0 up against Manchester United on Saturday.
Many fans would not have believed their eyes when they saw the scoreline going into half time, but it was not meant to be as the Red Devils fought back to secure a 3-2 win at Old Trafford.
One player who really redeemed himself in this fixture was Kenedy, who it is safe to say has not been at his best recently.
However, he looked like a completely changed player in this fixture, netting one of the goals that gave the Magpies a seemingly comfortable lead.
He was argubly one of Newcastle’s best players on the field, and he most certainly proved to Rafa Benitez why it was worth bringing back on loan from Chelsea this season.
The 22-year-old tore Manchester United’s defence to shreds in the first half, with his lightning speed allowing him to run rings around them and cause them to panic.
When he went off mid way through the second half, his lack of presence was most definitely felt, and it was after this that Jose Mourinho’s team really demonstrated the quality that they have.
Nevertheless, Benitez will still be over the moon with the display of the midfield ace, and he will have his fingers crossed that the youngster will be able to maintain this form going into the rest of the season.
If Kenedy is firing on all cylinders like he did against United, then there is no doubt that Newcastle will be able to kickstart their season with a victory in their next fixture.
Kenedy has just proved to everyone the quality we all know that he possesses, and he is just going to get better and better now he is full of confidence on the back of this game.
The Brazilian looks like a transformed player – and he has most certainly made up for his past mistakes.
