Newcastle United are rightly frustrated as no one can blame them for being tired of seeing their side submit poor displays and slump to disappointing results.

The Magpies lost 1-0 to Brighton at St James Park on Saturday and fans were vocally voicing their frustrations over the current direction of their side.

This was especially the case when Rafa Benitez opted to bring Yoshinori Muto off the field in order to replace him with Joselu in the 73rd minute of the game.

The decision to see the Japanese forward leave the field was heavily booed and it probably didn’t do Joselu the world of good to hear the angry noise coming from supporters upon entering the game.

While the anger may not have been directed at the 28-year-old, who earns £40,000-a-week currently (Source: Spotrac), on this occasion, it didn’t exactly set him up to have the best performance.

It felt like Joselu was being hung out to dry before he even had chance to turn the game around for his side, and that’s simply unfair.

The forward may have previously proven he is not the most lethal finisher in the Premier League by any means, but his effort can never be faltered.

Joselu’s never-say-die attitude is endearing and the reason why he has goals to his name this season unlike some his teammates.

While you wouldn’t bet your house on him scoring, supporters should have held off their boos over Muto coming off and Joselu replacing him, as who knows whether the Spaniard could have made a difference.

The hostile atmosphere didn’t exactly set him up for the best performance of his life, and it was no surprise he struggled, perhaps as a result.

Therefore why Magpies supporters were right to be so frustrated they needed to vent, they needed to do it at time where a player like Joselu, who gives his best, isn’t hung out to dry before being giving a chance.
