Everton are reportedly not put off in their pursuit of Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy despite him having a £25million price tag and this proves Newcastle United will struggle to find the prolific finisher they need in January.

According to the Daily Mirror the Toffees are ready to make a move for the Foxes attacker due to his relationship with current boss Claude Puel being strained and are even willing to swoop for him despite him having a huge price tag considering his age.

The newspaper claimed that Marco Silva’s side believe that due to Vardy’s quality and fitness record then they would open to pay a huge fee for him despite him being 31-year-old.

While it’s true that Vardy’s injury record is not a concern and he does look capable of going for a few more seasons yet, for a club to be willing to invest that much money in a player the wrong side of 30 is insane.

There’s no guarantee that Vardy will be able to keep up his goalscoring ways, as he might start to lose his pace, and it’s a huge amount of money to invest in someone for that reason.

The Magpies are clearly tasked with trying to find a forward to sign who will score goals in the Premier League in January as they’re currently struggling to get points in the league due to their lack of goals.

However with the Toffees being willing to pay such a huge amount for a potentially unhappy forward who is the wrong side of 30, solely because of his track record of scoring, then it shows the Magpies face an impossible task of finding a player to aid their cause.

Mike Ashley would hesitant to sanction a £25million bid for anyone let alone an unhappy 31-year-old and if Vardy did go for that sort of money, then it would cause other teams to value their forwards just as highly.

The transfer market is driven by demand and the sale prices of other players, so if the Toffees invested that amount in getting Vardy in January then the Magpies would basically have to abandon pursuing any player with a proven Premier League track record.

Therefore this all means that the Toffees stance on Vardy’s price tag proves the Magpies face an impossible task getting the striker they need, when player such as Vardy are potentially costing staggering amounts.
