Newcastle United attacker Ayoze Perez has been allowed to get away with not delivering the goods for the club for way too long and after his woeful display against Crystal Palace, enough is enough.

The 5ft 10in tall Magpies player (Source: ESPN) had a golden opportunity to rob Palace of a point during Saturday’s 0-0 draw with them despite their dominance.

Perez ended up being through on goal following a mistake by Palace defender James Tomkins during the game but instead of calmly slotting the ball home, the attacker tamely tapped the ball into Wayne Hennessey arms.

Aside from that moment the 25-year-old’s pointless runs and ineffective passes made his side far from being an attacking threat and that story of his last few season for the club.

Benitez clearly trusts Perez to do a job for the team as he never stops running for the cause and often drops back to help his defence but the Spanish manager is wrong to trust him.

The Magpies need players playing in Perez’s position to deliver goals and assists, which is something the player doesn’t tend to do apart from brief spells at the end of campaigns in order to make his numbers misleading good.

While Benitez may not be drowning in options to choose from to replace Perez, it’s clear that the attacker has had enough opportunities to prove his worth in his team, only to let them down.

The Magpies really need to start getting points on the board after picking up just two so far and in order to do that, they need to improve upfront.

Therefore following Perez’s woeful display against Palace, Benitez must bin Perez instantly from his first team plans as he is wrong to trust the player to help his side’s cause right now.
