Rafa Benitez must act in order to ensure his Newcastle United team start being more a creative force because as it stands playing attacker Salomon Rondon is utterly pointless.

The Magpies hardly created chances in the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday, which followed barely getting a shot on target in last weekend’s clash against Arsenal, despite them grabbing consolation in their 3-1 defeat to the London side.

While some may put the blame on the players for not creating enough chances, Benitez must still find a way to get the creative juices following through out his team by playing the right system as there is enough talent for chances to be put on a plate for Rondon.

Matt Ritchie is a fantastic crosser of the ball, Jonjo Shelvey is among the best passers in the Premier League and Kenedy previously proved last season that he could carve out a chance.

Yet despite having these type of players behind them, Rondon is continually isolated upfront and starved of service.

The forward, who earns £60,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac),  only touched the ball 17 times, as per the Chronicle, during the draw with Palace before being subbed and replaced by the less-than-prolific Joselu at the break.

There may be some who argue that Rondon should put himself about the pitch in order to create his own chances, he is not that type of forward and the Magpies knew that when they signed him.

As it stands the Venezuelan international is being made to look utterly pointless when it comes to helping his team’s cause and the worrying statistic about the amount of touches he had against Palace, shows that Benitez must act in order to turn his form around.
