A section of Newcastle United supporters have slammed on-loan winger Kenedy on social media, after the Brazilian commented on his desire to return to parent club and Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The 22-year-old summer signing told Brazilian outlet UOL: “I hope this year I can make a good season for Newcastle and go back to Chelsea to continue. I have a dream to return and to be a champion for the club.”
Unsurprisingly, some Magpies fans have reacted with displeasure to the winger seemingly having one eye on his Chelsea future while he’s on loan at Tyneside.

I have a dream that one day Kenedy will actually beat his man and put a cross in.

On present form he is struggling for a first team slot at Newcastle, nevermind getting a game at Chelsea, let's hope Kennedy can prove himself worthy at Newcastle this season.

Looks like his mind is there already.

He’s barely even good enough this season to get into our team, never mind a title winning Chelsea side

OPINION
It’s no surprise to see Newcastle fans react in this way. Obviously Kenedy is only at St James’ Park on a temporary basis, and is simply looking at his long term future, but the timing of his comments is all wrong. He should be concentrating on performing well for Rafael Benitez’s side, not contemplating what he can achieve once he’s back at Chelsea. He’s had a pretty poor start to the season, so needs to focus on improving his form over the coming weeks. Comments like this won’t endear him to the Newcastle support, as they’ll assume he’s using the club as a stepping stone to further his own career. With things not going well on the pitch at Newcastle, the players need to put the work in on the training ground not with the media. The supporters are right to be irritated, as Kenedy’s attention is clearly focused somewhere much further south than Tyneside.
