OPINION

If there is one thing that Newcastle United fans can be slightly positive about, it is the fact that they got another point on the board in a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

One thing that they should not be smiling about is the hopeless display from winger Kenedy.

You would think that the team would storm out of the blocks in order to gain a result from this fixture, but it was the entire opposite at Selhurst Park.

The Magpirs first teamer sticks out like a sore thumb with his showing, and there is no doubt that supporters will be calling for Rafa Benitez to wield the axe on his loanee star.

He must be ashamed for being so hapless, and he definitely does not deserve to pull on the club shirt if he thinks it is acceptable to play the way that he did.

It is a shame, as Kenedy has so much potential that could be unleashed, but it appears like he is not bothered whether he is on the pitch anymore.

He seems more of a spectator that a player, and that is a huge concern for Benitez, especially as he is looking to get his first win of the season.

Jonjo Shelvey played the ball into Kenedy, who found some space on the left wing – and instead of putting in a dangerous cross, he struck the ball straight into the hands of Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

He hardly made a positive contribution on the game, which is a worrying sign for a player who is normally gifted with such ability.

Kenedy has hardly made a case for a successful return to Chelsea, who are not likely to give him many opportunities if he continues to make a mess of things at St James’ Park.

The 22-year-old was embarrassing and he must recognise that he is not deserving of wearing the shirt when his form is so shameful.
