When a player comes on loan and impresses the manager, it is only natural for that club to want to acquire him on a permanent basis.

However, in Newcastle United’s case, boss Rafa Benitez will be left sweating after the comments made by Kenedy, who is currently on loan from Chelsea.

The £25,000-a-week [Spotrac] star also spent a section of the 2017/18 campaign on loan at St James’ Park, and during that time, he has contributed positively towards the squad.

That means it would only be natural for Benitez to want to have him on the books on a permanent basis, but after these comments, he will be left rather worried.

“It’s not that I did not avenge at Chelsea, I came to the age of 19. It was nice to be on loan for more playing time, better than staying in Chelsea and not playing. to Chelsea to continue. I have the dream to return and to be able to be a champion for the club,” the 22-year-old told South American outlet UOL.

These comments will also disappoint the majority of Magpies’ supporters, who would have been undoubtedly hoping that Kenedy would remain at the club beyond his current loan spell.

He has had a few under-par performances, but apart from that, he has shown real glimpses of what he is capable of.

Over the course of the season, he is only going to get better and better, and he will soon establish himself as an integral member of Benitez’ first team – as was the case last season.

This is why the Spaniard will be left sweating over these comments, as Kenedy is clearly one of the most talented members of the squad on a good day, and one who can contribute to Premier League safety.

It comes as no surprise that the midfielder has made these remarks – any player would want the opportunity to compete for major honours at a top-six club.

Nevertheless, the comments are likely to make fans question Kenedy’s commitment to Newcastle, and whether that will affect his displays over the course of the season.

One thing is for sure though – Benitez will get himself into a bit of a sweat following these comments, as the Brazilian is a key player in their quest for top-flight survival.
