Some Newcastle United supporters on social media opted to share their relief over having goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to rely on following his display against Crystal Palace.
The 6ft 3in tall shot-stopper (Source: Transfermarkt) registered a clean sheet to help his side secure a 0-0 draw with Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday even though Roy Hodgson’s team kept him busy between the sticks.
Following Dubravka managing to help his side earn a draw, a section of Magpies fans opted to rave about him by sharing they didn’t know how their side would cope without him.
One fan tweeted that the goalkeeper was set to be the most important player of the season and that there was no argument to be had about that statement.

OPINION
No one should be surprised that Dubravka shone for the Magpies when they needed him to once again. While one fan claimed it was sad that the goalkeeper was the best signing of the Mike Ashley era, the Magpies should just be grateful to have him as they would have lost on Saturday without him. While Rafa Benitez has a surprising amount of depth in numbers when it comes to his goalkeepers, none of the others are on the same level as Dubravka. The goalkeeper makes everything look easy and even though he was constantly called into action against Palace as they dominated Saturday’s clash, he didn’t seem fazed by that fact at all. If Dubravka is able to keep up that sort performance for the whole of the campaign then the Magpies will pick up points from matches that they had no business taking points from. The only issue is the Magpies don’t seem to have any attackers willing to make the most of Dubravka keeping a clean sheet at the back.
