The swap deal involving strikers Dwight Gayle and Salomon Rondon is likely to go through today, according to reliable journalist Paul Suart.
The journalist – who is known for covering West Brom for Birmingham Live – has provided a vital update on his personal Twitter account, claiming that the swap between Newcastle and the Baggies could be completed today.
Looks very much like the Rondon / Gayle loan swap deal will go through today. A deficit in wages, and who would pay what, complicated negotiations. Gayle is in the Midlands sorting the finer details of his move / medical. About done at the Newcastle end. #wba

The two clubs are still negotiating over who will pay what when the players attempt to make their proposed transfers, but Gayle has left Tyneside to travel to the Midlands to sort out the smaller details of his potential move and medical.
The deal is said to all but done on Newcastle’s side.
OPINION
This is yet another development in the Rondon/Gayle saga, and hopefully it will come to end today like Suart has said. It has been rattling on for a while and everybody must be hoping that a deal would be thrashed out soon and by the looks of things, the swap is likely to go ahead today much to the relief of everyone. Both Newcastle and West Brom fans respectively will be excited to hear about this development – United are hoping to stay up, and the Baggies are looking to be promoted at the first time of asking. The two clubs needed strengthening up front and the Magpies look to have achieved that just before the season starts for them. Fingers crossed for supporters that Rondon can deliver the goods and steer the club in the right direction now his move is all but confirmed by United, and that there are no more developments in this ongoing saga.
