Newcastle United are yet to finalise a loan switch for winger Rolando Aarons despite there being strong interest in him, according to the Chronicle.

The regional newspaper reports on their website that the Magpies have not yet finalised a deal for him to go out on loan despite the interest – however, it is the 22-year-old’s lack of match time that has led to doubts surrounding the youngster’s fitness, meaning that a deal is yet to be agreed.

United have until Friday’s deadline to sort out a temporary move for the rarely-used speedster, who has only made 18 appearances in the Premier League for the club since joining in 2012.

OPINION

Newcastle do not have long to arrange a loan switch for Aarons, and that may now have been delayed further due to doubts about the young player’s fitness. He has not been playing that much so his fitness levels are bound to be rather low, which could potentially put off any interested clubs in signing him before the end of the transfer window. Benitez will now need to convince any interested parties to take a punt on his winger, as he will not want a player who is not in his plans for the club to tbe loitering around for any longer. Aarons may have the potential to be a good player, but Benitez obviously feels that he is not at the standard yet to be competing amongst the first team, hence why he went out on loan last year. Nevertheless, Benitez will need to do some quick persuading as the transfer deadline is just around the corner.
