Newcastle United players have agreed and signed their bonus agreements, with all club media duties such as walk-up shots completed, according to reliable journalist Pete Graves.

The Sky Sports News reporter claimed on his personal Twitter account, that the squad members had found a solution with the club following disputes over bonus payments which resulted in their refusal to co-operate with the media.

After positive talks had taken place, all media duties were completed today and the players have made themselves available to rights holders for ‘walk-up shots’ used by TV companies when showing starting line-ups before matches.

OPINION

After a media blackout, there has finally been a resolution for the Newcastle United players and the club over their bonuses. Players declined to speak after last Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to FC Augsburg and the 4-0 hammering at Braga on Wednesday after failing to reach agreements over performance-related bonuses. Now the problem has been solved, the players can now focus for a huge Premier League opener against Tottenham which, ironically, is the televised lunchtime kick-off on Saturday afternoon. Events were not going well off the pitch to add to further frustration on Tyneside but now the players have no reason for going into the match at St James’ Park and displaying a strong performance for their thousands of supporters. The club need to build on the positive energy that was picked up during the end of last season as the Magpies endured a great run of form to finish in the top half of the Premier League.
