Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has been left out of the squad to face Augsburg in a pre-season friendly at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon, and many fans have taken to Twitter to react.
Speculation has been rife surrounding a potential exit for Gayle this summer, who has been linked with a swap deal involving West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon.
The Baggies have simultaneously left Rondon out of their squad for the season opener against Bolton, and some fans have reacted excitedly on Twitter.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up some of the best tweets:

OPINION
These Newcastle fans seem to be excited about something finally happening with the swap deal involving Gayle and Rondon in light of this turn of events. The switch had looked to be on the cards before negotiations came to a standstill this week, with it being thought that West Brom were unwilling to pay Gayle’s high wages. However, reports suggested that talks had got back underway in the last day or so, and it looks as though that may be the case with both players not involved in their respective matches. It will be interesting to see what happens from now, with both sets of fans obviously willing the deal to go through before the window shuts in just five days time.
