Some Newcastle United fans took to social media in order to share their disappointment over attacker Adam Armstrong completing a permanent move to Blackburn Rovers.

The 5ft 8in forward (Transfermarkt) was confirmed as completing his move to the Championship side for an undisclosed fee by a brief statement posted on the Magpies’ official website.

Armstrong, 21, rose through the ranks at the Magpies in order to go on to feature 21 times for the senior side with him making his debut against Fulham in 2014 when he was just 17-years-old.

Several Magpies supporters tweeted that in their opinion the promising forward never got a real chance to succeed at the club with one fan labelling it a disgrace that he wasn’t given more opportunities.

OPINION

Only time will tell if the Magpies were right to cash-in on Armstrong this summer as at the still very young age of 21-years-old, he could still develop into a top-level attacker. Armstrong was in fantastic form in the second half of his 2017/18 campaign when on loan at Blackburn Rovers and their supporters are no doubting jumping for joy over his arrival. While several fans shared their disappointment at the Magpies letting Armstrong go, no one seem to blame the 21-year-old for exiting the club as the majority just want to see the academy graduate flourish in his career and fulfil his potential.
