A section of Newcastle fans have reacted angrily at owner Mike Ashley’s letter to MPs where he makes a number of bold claims to defend his ownership of the club.
As reported by the Chronicle, the Toon owner has written a letter to MPs to try and defend his reign at the club.
The letter was written in a response to Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah, who delivered a petition to the House of Commons with criticised his time at the club, with Ashley rebuffing the suggestions made with a number of claims of his own.
This comes in what is a period of turmoil at St. James Park, with fans becoming angry and frustrated at the perceived lack of investment on new players.
One member of the Toon Army said the letter was all lies, while another urged the fanbase to continue to rebel against Ashley’s ownership.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up the best tweets from a section of Newcastle supporters on Ashley’s letter:
Seeing as he's not using club revenue to pay off the debt he's owed, where on earth is the money going?

It's lies and does not fool anyone. It's quite simple Mike. Your time as custodian is up. Sell the club for what it is truly worth and the adverse publicity will stop immediately.

@NUFC tell him to take his profit and leave then. Sell the club. #ASHLEYOUT

OPINION
These Newcastle fans obviously aren’t happy with Ashley’s letter; they think it’s all rubbish and they just want him to sell the club and leave them alone. However, it doesn’t look like that is going to happen for a good while yet as Ashley will want to get all the money he can for the club if he does sell. The relationship between the Magpies owner and the fans is completely broken and cannot be reversed, so whatever the owner now says the fans won’t believe anything, such is the distrust between the two parties. There doesn’t seem to be a solution other than a change of ownership, but that may not happen for a while yet so the Toon fans will have to get used to seeing more unambitious transfer windows until the club is sold.
