The outlet claims that the 19-year-0ld wonderkid has rejected the chance to move to St. James Park this summer.

The central defender, who can also play left-back, has only made two senior appearances for the French Ligue 1 champions.

OPINION

This is a major blow for Newcastle and Rafael Benitez. With so little time left in the transfer window, Stanley N’Soki appeared to be one of the club’s top targets and for him to reject a move to the club at such a late stage will be extremely frustrating for the Spanish manager and his recruitment team. The club now have to move quickly to focus on other targets as they desperately need defensive cover ahead of next season after key defender Florian Lejeune was ruled out for the long-term with a cruciate ligament knee injury. The 19-year-old defender is fully entitled to reject a move to the Premier League, as it is a very demanding and pressurised league in which every single mistake a player makes is scrutinised intensely, which is hard for players that are so young. You can understand why he doesn’t want to move country and league at such a young age as it’s a big change, but Rafael Benitez won’t appreciate his decision.
