Newcastle United must act now in order to win the reported hunt for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro as with him proving to be hard to sell then a reasonable deal could be reached for services.

Calciomercato reported that the Italian giants were looking for a club to £17.7million in order to take the tough-tackling 25-year-old off their hands and had no interested in keeping him at the club.

The Italian football outlet then claimed that Sturaro’s ambitious price tag had caused Fiorentina, Genoa and Frankfurt to pull out of the race for him and that the Premier League was his most likely destination.

Calciomeracto listed all the teams thought to be in the hunt for the defensive midfielder and the only three English teams named were the Magpies, Leicester City and West Ham.

Given that there is no active offers thought to be in for Sturaro as of yet and time running down for a Premier League team to submit bid in order to get the midfielder then the Magpies could easily persuade Juventus to lower their demands for him.

As after all the historic team have no intention to have him hanging around their club any longer.

Chris Waugh, who writes for the Chronicle, previously shared in July during a Q&A (Wednesday 15:10) that while he’d be surprise to see Sturaro arrive at St James Park this summer, he was a player that Rafa Benitez was aware of.

The Magpies were no doubt deemed unlikely to get a deal done for the 25-year-old due to his huge price tag but with Juventus still struggling to sell him and relying on a Premier League team to take him off their hands, then it’s very likely their valuation of him could be lowered.

This probably will be the best opportunity for the Magpies to sign Sturaro as once he finds a new club that have complete faith in him, his price will no doubt skyrocket.

Juventus have wasted the 25-year-old’s talents and this has seen his progress stall as the Italian giants opted to not regularly play him in recent seasons.

However once he shakes off some rustiness and gets consistent playing time then Sturaro will once again look like the player that was tipped for big things at an European giant like Juventus.

Therefore the Magpies must seize their potential opportunity to get such a talented midfielder as he could thrive at St James Park.
