Newcastle United fans took to social media to fume over a Sky Sports report that claimed the proposed loan deal with West Bromwich Albion over exchanging Dwight Gayle and Salomon Rondon was unlikely to happen.

The broadcaster in their latest report (Wednesday, 9:59) on the proposed deal shared that the Championship side did not want to agree to permanently acquiring Gayle at the end of a loan spell with them nor did they want to give him a contract similar to what he is on at the Magpies.

According to statistical sports website Spotrac Gayle’s current Magpies contract sees him earn £40,000-a-week.

This update promoted several angry Magpies supporters to tweet in order to share their opinion on the story with one fan stating that it was clearly time for Mike Ashley to leave the club.

Nothing But Newcastle has rounded up the a selection of tweets by Magpies supporters following Sky’s update:

OPINION

With one Magpies fan tweeting that he has never been so frustrated with his club, it shows how mood has hit an all-time low amongst supporters at St James Park. Rondon has constantly been the forward linked to the Magpies this summer and it would be terribly disappointing if the club missed out on him but failed to find another worthy attacker to sign. The current West Bromwich Albion forward may not be the choice that supporters dream about but clearly based on their reaction, they just want to see him arrive at St James Park sooner rather than never. Hopefully the Magpies are now ready to sign Rondon without Gayle going in the other direction.
