A section of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter in response to Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock’s comments about owner Mike Ashley.
Warnock – who guided his team to promotion to the Premier League – spoke ahead of the clash between the two sides this weekend, with both of them seeking out their first win.
According to the Chronicle, rival boss Warnock claimed that Ashley is “an easy target” when speaking about the improvement of the Magpies’ squad in the last year.

The United faithful appear to think that his comments do not really mean anything, with one supporter commenting “he’s simply playing mind games before the kick off.”

Sounds like Warnock is throwing his hat into the ring for when Rafa leaves at the end of the season

OPINION
Newcastle fans do not seem to understand why Neil Warnock is making these sorts of comments, especially ahead of their clash this weekend. As one fan put it, he is simply playing mind games with Rafa Benitez in order to get one over him. However, one seems to think that Warnock is throwing his name into the mix if the Spaniard leaves at the end of the season, which is an interesting response to make after these comments. Obviously, no one knows if Benitez will stick around come May next year, and Warnock would make an odd candidate for the job. Nevertheless, some of the supporters believe that these remarks do not mean anything at all, which they arguably do not. If anything, he is just trying to wind the Newcastle camp up in an attempt at mind games. Benitez is experienced enough not to take any notice of remarks like these, and they are not likely to make a difference to the way he approaches the game.
