Former Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has completed a surprise move to UAE club Al-Nasr, and Magpies fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news.
As announced on the Dubai-based club’s official Twitter account, Cabaye has signed a two-year deal with the club after his contract at Crystal Palace expired this summer.
The France international was expected to move on from the Eagles, but his move to Dubai will come as a surprise to many considering his obvious talent.
Newcastle fans have now taken to Twitter to react to the news, with many mocking Cabaye for chasing money with his move, with the French playmaker not very well-liked on Tyneside after his acrimonious exit to PSG in 2014.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up some of the best tweets:
Maybe it was all about the money after all for Cabaye? Wasting his talent in a nothing league. It all went downhill for him when he left St James’ where he was adored. #NUFC https://t.co/bd7kzbYmZQ

OPINION
Cabaye is not well-loved at all on Tyneside after his poor conduct in forcing through an exit to PSG in 2014, and that is clear to see in these responses. The Frenchman’s decision to join Al-Nasr has obviously not come as a surprise to many Newcastle fans, who believe he is merely focused on money. It is hard to argue with that assertion after this move, with Cabaye surely still able to play at a high level for another couple of seasons, being just 32 years old. It will be Palace fans who are most annoyed by his decision, with the midfielder proving to be a key player for the Eagles over the past few campaigns.
