Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is expected to seal his club fate within 24 hours of Monday afternoon when he signs along the dotted line at Fulham, according to the Sun.

The newspaper reports on their website that the 6’2″ (source: Transfermarkt) frontman’s move to the Cottagers could be done by Tuesday as he closes in on a return to his former loan side.

The 23-year-old – who earns £60,000 a week (Spotrac) – spent the second half of last season on loan at the Cottagers, bagging 12 goals to help them on their way to promotion.

The West London-based club have reportedly had a bid of £20million accepted by United for their striker, who could be a Fulham player by tomorrow.

OPINION

The Mitrovic transfer saga could finally be coming to a close now that is has been reported that he could sign in the next 24 hours. His move to Craven Cottage developed considerably when Newcastle accepted their bid of £20 million for his services, which will benefit them hugely. His loan to Fulham indicated that he was not firmly in Benitez’ plans for the club, and it was not surprising that Fulham wanted him on a permanent basis after his 12 goals for them. They want to ensure that they have all of the reinforcements they can get to boost their chances of Premier League survival next season, and Mitrovic is surely a player to help them do that. 12 goals was only a statistic for the second half of the season, so it will be interesting to see whether he can build upon that figure for the entirety of the campaign – it will be exciting to watch.
