Some Newcastle United fans have been left reacting to reports that fans are being surprisingly blocked by Mike Ashley’s business Sports Direct on Twitter.
According to Chronicle Live, a number of Toon fans have noticed that they have been denied access to the company’s social media outlet after announcing their support for the #IfRafaGoesWeGo movement on social media.
We thought this was interesting.
We’ve not followed @sportsdirectuk and we haven’t tweeted them either. #NUFC #IfRafaGoesWeGo pic.twitter.com/vAsaHMJ8aq

The Twitter account @IfRafaGoesWeGo have started a number of online petitions against Mike Ashley’s running of the club.
The account has received the backing of thousands of Newcastle fans following the disappointing transfer business by the club so far this summer, with the Sports Direct supremo having been in charge for over 10 years since taking over back in 2007.
One Toon fan said that it shows Mike Ashley does care when the fans protest.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up the best tweets from a section of Toon fans on the social media activity:
Very interesting. Goes to show despite what many say Ashley does care when the fans unite/protest etc.
We just need to keep the pressure on because the status quo is unacceptable.#IfRafaGoesWeGo

OPINION
The Newcastle fans are right to voice their discontent with the current regime and they can do so however they see fit. The IfRafaGoesWeGo campaign is gaining real momentum and judging by Sports Direct’s actions on Twitter, it looks as though the Toon fans are getting through to Mike Ashley, even if they are just getting blocked on social media. The St. James Park faithful clearly want a change of ownership as soon as possible, if this helps to make that happen in any way, then this campaign will have been a success. The fans are right too, Benitez will decide to go eventually if the club doesn’t match his ambitions.
