Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has made no secret of his intentions to bring in reinforcements, and there is one player that he should not be prepared to make any contact for.

Reliable journalist Lee Ryder – who is the Chronicle’s chief writer on the club – tweeted from his personal Twitter account that United had not made a bid for Nahitan Nandez, a move which will delight the Newcastle faithful as they should feel relieved.

Nahitan Nandez is not a name we have heard on these shores often, purely because he plays in Brazil for Boca Juniors – but his name is one to avoid if the club want to steer clear of what could be a major risk for them.

As the tweet states, Benitez is seeking out full-back cover and a striker, but  the club have made no bid for the 5″6 (source: Transfermarkt) enforcer, and any further contact must be aborted imminently.

There is not enough evidence to show that he can perform at a high standard in the Premier League for United, and being only 22-years-old does not help his case either – and fans should breathe a sigh of relief that there has been no bid.

The English top-flight is a totally different kettle of fish than the South American leagues he is used to playing in, as it is reputable for being one of the most competitive divisions there is.

That would be massive step up for the central midfielder, who can also play on the right flank, as it is a risk that is bound to backfire due to his lack of experience at such a high level.

If he did move to Tyneside – which is highly unlikely – putting out a few dismal performances would end his career at the club before it even had the chance to begin, and that is not a risk that Newcastle should be prepared to take.

His height does not come to his aid either, as standing at 5″6 is not the ideal height for a player when potentially providing cover to the full-backs.
