Newcastle United have reportedly entered talks over a return for winger Andros Townsend, but some fans have taken to Twitter to call on the club to sign loan star Kenedy instead after an update from a reliable journalist.
As reported by The Sun, the Magpies are eyeing up an £18million deal for Townsend to replace Matt Ritchie, who is set to join Stoke in a £15million deal.
Elsewhere reliable journalist Alan Nixon has provided an update on their pursuit of Kenedy, saying that Mike Ashley is waiting for Rafa Benitez to sign a new deal before releasing funds, with a deal for the Chelsea starlet ‘teed up.’
Some Newcastle fans have now taken to Twitter to react to these reports, with many wanting the club to sign Kenedy, 22, instead of Townsend after Nixon’s encouraging update.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up some of the best tweets:

If we have £18m to spend on Townsend, why don't we pay the extra for Kenedy ? Better option. #NUFC

Funny way of spelling Kenedy #NUFC https://t.co/J0MJCTPcNZ

I’d take Townsend back but I would prefer Kenedy to be signed. Younger and more talented and has the potential to be a world beater under Rafa. Surely the at least £20 Million it will cost for Townsend would be better thrown at Chelsea for kenedy? #NUFC

OPINION
It is not really surprising to see that many Newcastle fans would prefer a deal to be struck for Kenedy before they attempt to sign Townsend. The Brazilian wide man was brilliant on loan for the Magpies last season, with his energy on the wings providing the impetus needed to secure survival early on. Townsend on the other hand ditched the club after their relegation to the Championship, with the England international at the club for just six months. The two men occupy opposite positions in the estimations of many Toon fans, and this has been reflected in these calls to sign the Brazilian first and foremost.
