Newcastle United must act now if they’re to have any chance of winning the race for Yoshinori Muto as West Ham have reportedly now joined the hunt for him.

The Magpies were first thought to be pursuing the FSV Mainz forward in June as the Daily Mirror claimed that Rafa Benitez was keen on signing the 26-year-old who was valued as being worth £14million.

Since then the latest report courtesy of BILD on Muto’s future has claimed that not only is he available to purchase this summer due to his contract expiring next year but that the Hammers are interested in him alongside the Magpies.

Manuel Pellegrini side have not hesitated this summer when it comes to recruit new players and if Muto is really in their sights then they’re destined to act fast in order to snap him up.

The Hammers have already spent over £100million in the current transfer window, as reported by the Express, and it seems likely that they’re keen on Muto.

It was recently confirmed by the Hammers via their website that Andy Carroll was set to miss at least three months of action so it’s very realistic that the club will look to bring a new attacker to cover for his absence before the window shuts.

Given that Muto is available to purchase this summer after scoring 10 goals, while assisting five, in his 30 outings last season then he seems capable of excelling in the Premier League if given an opportunity.

However due to his clear attacking talents, it’s the Magpies that must win his services.

Benitez’s side only managed 39 goals in 38 league games in the 2017/18 season and Muto is more than capable of significantly improving that goal return if recruited.

Also with Mainz being willing to sell the 26-year-old this summer then the Magpies should be able to achieve a more than reasonable deal for the player’s services.

Therefore Newcastle United must act now to sign Muto ahead of the Hammers making their interest concrete as they have shown already this summer that they’re not messing around when it comes to recruiting the players they want.
