Newcastle United must hijack West Ham’s reported interest in Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron as he would fire the Magpies up the table next season.

Guardian reporter Ed Aarons shared via his personal Twitter account last week that the Hammers were interested in signing the attacking midfielder but were unlikely to successfully recruit him if they welcomed Jack Wilshere to the club.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have since confirmed that they have signed Wilshere, via the club’s official site, which means they may have already given up pursuing Almiron.

Whether this is the case or not the Magpies must look to hijack their Premier League rivals’ interest in the 24-year-old as he would be a revelation at St James Park.

Almiron who stands at 5ft 7in tall (Transfermarkt) is one of the stars of the MLS and has already scored eight goals as well assisted 11 in the 20 appearances he has made in the division for his side this year.

After Rafa Benitez watched his side struggle to score goals last season with them only grabbing 39 goals in 38 league games then he knows he has to welcome prolific players to the club.

While Almiron isn’t the out-and-out forward that he should be focusing on, adding a clinical midfielder to his side would do his team’s chances of success next season a world of good.

The 24-year-old, who can also feature as a winger on either flank, has all the tools needed to be a success in the Premier League due to his lethal finishing ability, dazzling dribbling skills and delightful knack for playing key passes at the right time.

Therefore the Magpies must hijack West Ham’s interest in Almiron as after being involved in 19 goals already in 2018, he would clearly be an excellent signing for the club to make this summer.
