Newcastle United would be making a wise decision by successfully hijacking Swansea City winger Andre Ayew’s potential transfer to Besiktas.

HITC SportĀ report that the 28-year-old Swans attacker is closing in on a move to Besiktas but that the Magpies are currently plotting a late move in order to welcome him to St James Park instead.

With Ayew no doubt keen to ensure that he isn’t playing his football in the Championship next season following the Swans’ relegation, the Magpies must act fast in order to get his signature as Besiktas are already in talks with the Welsh club.

The 28-year-old featured in a range of positions during his 2017/18 campaign and his versatility would give Rafa Benitez many exciting options on how to use him.

Ayew was used as a right-winger, left-winger, attacking midfielder as well as being deployed as a centre-forward during his recent campaign.

The attack-minded player could easily help improve the Magpies’ goal threat in whichever position Benitez would opt to use him as due to his strength in the air, comfort with the ball at his feet as well as his passing ability then he is able to flourish in multiple roles.

Ayew who played for West Ham before transferring to the Swans in January played 36 times last season and racked up six goals as well as five assists in his outings, despite featuring for two sides that had disappointing campaigns.

The attacker is a proven Premier League talent and would settle into life quickly at St James Park as after making 89 appearances in the division he knows what is needed to excel in England’s top-flight.

Also as HITC’s report states that Besiktas are closing on a deal to take Ayew on a season-long loan deal with an option to make his transfer permanent at a later date, the Magpies are no doubt in a position to match their offer or better it.

Therefore Benitez’s side must act fast in their reported pursuit of Ayew as due to his versatility and Premier League experience, his signing would be a smart piece of business to conduct this summer by the club.
