Newcastle United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign January target Nicolai Jorgensen on a cut-price deal, and some fans have taken to Twitter to call on the club to turn down the opportunity.
As reported by the Chronicle, Feyenoord have revised their £18million asking price for the 27-year-old after his poor showing at the World Cup for Denmark.
The regional newspaper report that Jorgensen is seeking a move away from the Eredivisie this summer, and his new agent has sounded Newcastle out about the chance to sign him following a rejected £15million bid in January.
It is said that Newcastle are focusing on other targets for now, and some fans have taken to Twitter to call on the club’s stance to remain that way.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up some of the best tweets:
I’m sure the majority of the fans that were complaining about not paying the asking price at the time are relieved now

HE just seems to do what Mitro does? His link and holdup play was decent for Denmark but it seemed to have no killer instinct for goal.

OPINION
It is understandable to see fans not particularly keen on a deal for Jorgensen, but his performances over the past six months have not been indicative of his usual quality. Jorgensen has openly admitted that the rampant speculation over a move to St. James’ Park affected his displays for Feyenoord, and that should be taken into account here. The Denmark international is a powerful striker with a one-in-two record who possesses quality link-up play and can hold the ball up well. That is exactly what Newcastle need this summer, and while he would not be the best option, there is no reason to suggest he would not have some impact on Tyneside if he does make the long-protracted move.
