Newcastle United are open to offers for Rolando Aarons with West Bromwich Albion thought to be among the player’s admirers, according to the Daily Mirror.
The national newspaper’s Live Transfer Blog (Thursday, 15:42) claims that the Magpies will listen to offers for their speedy 5ft 8in winger (Transfermarkt) this summer even though his contract doesn’t expire until 2021.
The Daily Mirror report that the Baggies are interested in Aarons but have other options to consider when it comes to improving their squad ahead of the new season.
OPINION
After seeing his Magpies career stall for a variety of reasons then Aarons would be wise to jump at the chance to play for WBA in the Championship next season. The 22-year-old speedster did look like having a bright future at St James Park not that long ago but after an awful loan spell in Italy at Hellas Verona last season it is time to move him on. The Magpies won’t expect a huge transfer fee for Aarons due to his recent performances so that should tempt the Baggies to pursue him rather than other options. While the Mirror state that the Baggies are among the player’s admirers, it doesn’t list any other team in the race to sign him. Therefore that means that Aarons should be hoping that he is high on the Baggies’ list of transfer targets ahead of their season in the Championship as that will be his best chance of getting regular football next season as it stands.
